In its third year, Coffee & Cigarettes worked on a greater number of theatrical releases, including Rams and The Queen of Ireland, impressing our judges for crafting an “emotional reaction”. Icelandic hit Rams saw the company win its first major trailer prize at the GTA Awards and led to it working again with distributor Soda Pictures on Up for Love. “The agency has a clear sense of what the film is and is true to films individually, creating very fresh trailers” enthused one judge. This year also saw the company launch its virtual reality production arm, securing a distribution deal with Samsung VR.
From producing our creative assets to developing our new corporate identity, Coffee and Cigarettes have become our go-to agency for many of our projects. The high level of attention C&C have devoted to our projects, clearly demonstrates their experience at both the job in hand, and looking at the bigger picture of how it will all fit and benefit the overall campaign. Their dedication, professionalism, enthusiasm and talent always makes us confident we have placed our campaigns in good and trusted hands.
For small independent film-makers, like MCN Productions, the world of distribution is a minefield. Tom Clark and his team at Coffee & Cigarettes guided us through the whole process and – most importantly – got us a great UK Distribution deal and a great US (and International) Distribution Deal for our film. I can’t speak highly enough of everyone at C&C; they know the business inside-out and understand the concerns of film-makers. The basic agreement I had with them was that they would get us a Distribution deal. They did! But they did so much more for us as well, explaining everything as we went along and giving advice and support when we needed it. They work in a totally transparent way: no hidden agendas or murky areas! Just enthusiastic, creative, knowledgeable and thoroughly decent people! Thanks, guys!
Our collaboration with Coffee & Cigarettes is always smooth, organised and effective. Besides their creative talent, the team has specific experience in distribution they are very strong in reflecting the positioning strategies in images. This has been particularly important in our project The TIDE Experiment where we have to make 6-10 distributors happy with the same poster. In both White Shadow and For Those in Peril we reached the consensus. We are very happy to keep Edo and Tom among our current allies and collaborators.
Coffee & Cigarettes, led by Tom Clark and Eduardo Panizzo, have recently completed key art poster design on forthcoming feature Dartmoor Killing. C&C are great to work with; fast, efficient, economic, collaborative and above all superbly creative. We had some initial ideas about the design and like any good creative process C&C built on these and delivered a modern, arresting and sexy poster that everyone is thrilled with. There’s nothing more to say. Work with these guys…
I engaged Coffee and Cigarettes to provide creative services (including trailer, artwork and Sales sheet) once BEYOND was completed. I also engaged the company as our sales representative to advise me on distribution options and ultimately place the film with an international Sales Agent and UK distributor. Following a private screening of the film Tom and Edo provided a comprehensive list of comparable films, both in terms of tone and in performance. We had a meeting to establish our goal for the film and what we were ultimately looking to achieve and then Tom and Edo outlined the various options available to us and how we could position the film in the market. They are incredibly knowledgeable and seem to keep their knowledge bang up to date in terms of market trends, what the sales and distribution companies are looking for and what they will respond to. They produced a superb trailer that went through two drafts with feedback from us and guidance from Tom and Edo at each stage. The trailer, at time of writing, has achieved over 1,100,000 views on Youtube and the film is still four months from release with the Distributor marketing campaign yet to begin. The quality and variation of artwork far exceeded my expectations and I thoroughly enjoyed the process of working with Coffee and Cigarettes. While it was a very collaborative process and they took on board our feedback, they also provided strong guidance on how variations of the artwork would be received in the international market. Edo successfully placed our film with a great International Sales Agent and directly with a UK Distributor. But more than that, his guidance and advice throughout the process has been absolutely invaluable. He took the time to talk me through the pros and cons of each company and their respective offers plus the time to talk me through alternative distribution avenues available to us so I could make a fully informed decision. Overall, I couldn’t be happier with the service that Coffee and Cigarettes provided. The quality of their work is above industry standard, they are professional and committed and I always felt like our film was in safe hands.
Clean, crisp and bang on ahead of the game! Great design boys
Working with Coffee & Cigarettes on the UK release of Moon Man was a fantastic experience. We feel their knowledge of the UK market, and their enthusiasm for the project was vital to the film reaching a wide and engaged audience. We’re thrilled that so many people have had the chance to see this wonderful family film, and we look forward to working with the Coffee & Cigarettes team on future projects.
Coffee & Cigarettes did a fantastic job of introducing Terence and our film to the United Kingdom. Their team had an incredible insight into properly marketing the film, ensuring maximum visibility throughout the UK. Especially for a non-traditional film like this, we wouldn’t have achieved what we have without their guidance and dedication.
Coffee & Cigarettes have done a cracking job with our new corporate identity. They are creative and versatile and really took our feedback and ideas on board. It was a really enjoyable collaborative process and we are delighted with the outcome. Cheers guys.
You’ve absolutely smashed it! Great work… Thanks for going the extra mile on this. You’ve really got what we’re after.
We commissioned Coffee & Cigarettes to create a new corporate identity for our company. We felt that our old logo and brand identity was a little dated and we wanted to be rebranded with a visual identity which would give the company a modern, fun and cutting edge feel while still projecting a sense of professionalism. We are pleased to say that Coffee & Cigarettes have entirely fulfilled our brief, turning the project around in a remarkably timely fashion, and that all the staff at Programs 4 Media are delighted with the new corporate identity.
Everyone in the office is stoked with our new site, it looks AWESOME, thank you!
We were delighted with the key-art created in collaboration with Coffee & Cigarettes for our upcoming Theatrical release of The Deep. We’re looking forward to rolling out what promises to be a stunning, impactful and visually arresting campaign.
I just wanted to let you know that we were successful in obtaining conditional funding from the New Zealand Film Commission for Fresh Meat. Your marketing document was a large part of our application, and I’m sure it was key to the success of our application. Your analysis was first rate and the overall marketing strategy was thorough and well researched. I’m sure we will be looking at it regularly once we start pre-production.
Tom has been working with us on the development of a film called Lowdown Dirty Criminals. He created a comprehensive Investment Rationale and Marketing Strategy, which has been very beneficial in helping us understand how to best position our film in the marketplace, and why the film is an attractive proposition for an investor. He also created an excellent Product Placement and Branding Proposal, a document that will be crucial in securing corporate sponsorship, which will make up a large chunk of the film’s financing plan.
To my main man, I am so grateful for your love, passion and support for this film. You held this runt with tender hands. Love from the Badlands of OZ. Respect, Justin Kurzel.
We were very happy with Tom’s marketing concepts for The Devil’s Rock; his varied creative thoughts gave us lots of ideas to implement in our overall marketing plan.
